Some Statistics

Mark Twain once said, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.”  Serenity and I aren’t much for stats anyways, one of our core values is being simple, and statistics seem to try to paint a picture of being big and successful in a worldly sense.  So, all that being said, I thought some of you would like to know how things are going with the number of families coming to the Jubilee Food Pantry.

The Jubilee Food Pantry has served a total of:

89 different families

425 individuals

from 8 different local communities

The number of families coming to get food has also plateaued recently:

July 6 – 26

July 13 – 42

July 20 – 36

July 27 – 39

August 3 – 24

August 10 – 20

August 17 – 28

Overall, it has been a fun summer.  It seems as if folks are feeling more comfortable with us.  Neighbors have stopped by each week and brought vegetables from their gardens to share with others.  Many of our guests have asked if they can volunteer with us as well.

We could still use some help on Tuesdays with set-up (between 3-4pm) and translation and general help during the pantry hours (4-7pm).  If you are interested, call or email Serenity – 503.803.7823 or

Grocery shopping challenge part 2

Thank you all for participating in the grocery shopping challenge! Keep it up!

Those of you who are starting a bag for the Jubilee food pantry, we encourage you to add your plastic grocery sacks!  I know all of you have a big bag or cupboard full of them threatening to eat up valuable space.  Now you can pass that mess to us!!  We are in need of them and would love to recycle them for you.
